 Environmental protection is more than just a trend for us. Our 4-star adults-only hotel has been awarded the highest award – Gold – by the DEHOGA Environmental Check. This represents responsible and sustainable practices throughout the entire hotel operation.

 Thanks to targeted investments in energy efficiency, water conservation, and climate protection, our consumption is at least 30% below the industry average. Gold status is the result of years of consistent measures in the responsible use of resources – and a promise to our guests and the environment.

Sustainably efficient since 2009:

Our efficiency strategy

Since 2009, the AHORN Hotels & Resorts hotel group has been committed to a comprehensive efficiency strategy, including at the Best Western Ahorn Hotel Oberwiesenthal.

Heat is recovered, lighting is converted to LED, and electricity is generated by the company's own combined heat and power plants. This saves around 36% of primary energy and significantly reduces CO₂ emissions and pollutants.

Infrastructure contribution in the region

We focus on waste avoidance, consistent waste separation, water-saving technology, and conscious purchasing – especially when it comes to food. Plastic items such as disposable bottles and cups are avoided wherever possible.

Our kitchen prefers to use regional, fresh products with short delivery routes – this strengthens the local infrastructure and promotes sustainable tourism in the region.

Charging stations for your electric car

Our adults-only hotel has charging stations for electric cars, operated by ENGIE Germany (e-buddie). The electricity comes from our own combined heat and power plants.

While your vehicle is charging, you too can recharge your batteries – enjoying nature, relaxation, or leisure activities. Numerous charging card providers are already supported, and the expansion is ongoing.

Whether hiking or biking, Oberwiesenthal offers sporting experiences year-round. In summer, you can explore the region on well-developed cycling and hiking trails. In winter, the spa town transforms into a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts on the Fichtelberg.
